2017 a go go

The new year has been off to a great start. As well as a few corporates I’ve shot a great new short film, The Family Way, written by Roisin Kearney and directed by Nuno Bernardo. Starring Ciara O’Callaghan, Steve Gunn and Clara Harte with a sepcial appearance by Jim Sheridan and me 😉

I’ve begun filming and editing videos for Coffee Culture including their new Kickstarter campaign video.

I’ve just completed filming of all the cinematic elements of Lark’s production of Oliver, directed by Padraig J. Dunne, which will fuse film with stage. It was a brilliant shoot and I got to test out the new stabiliser arm for my Osmo. Please excuse the below pose 😉

Finally I have myself some business cards. Thanks to Robert O’Connell for designing them. Highly recommended.

and last but not least, I’m working behind the scenes on the play ‘unchained Melody, directed by Louise Dunne and produced by At Large Theatre which will run for two nights in the Smock Alley Boys School Feb 28th – March 1st @ 9pm. Here’s a quick promo I put together for it.

In June I was B-cam operator on a video for Cycle Ataxia. A charity cycle for a great cause. I got to shoot from the top of a crane that had been used in Game of Thrones. Ok, not a big deal, but I’m taking it. 🙂

Anthony Downes was A-cam operator and editor.

Earlier in August I performed as Frank in “Beryl” at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival with At Large Theatre Company.

Frank, a sensitive loner, is haunted by the memories of his past. Driven by an urge to overcome these, he avails of the private cross-dressing services of Beryl. As their stories unfold, both characters must unmask themselves before the other and the true purpose of their meeting becomes clear. As both characters face painful truths about their desires and fears, a final revelation brings their conflicting energies to a dangerous point until there can only be space for one inside Beryl’s rundown bedsit.

Great summer trip!

Testimony Short Film – Crowdfunding Now!

A short film I was Director of Photography on, “Testimony”, is a hard-hitting drama, inspired by true events that took place in Poland in 1991. Adapted as an Irish story, with all-Irish award-winning cast and crew, the film was shot in late February and is now crowdfunding to cover post-production costs.

Writter & directed by Kamila Dydyna, produced by Eamonn Tutty and Cara Bamford, the film features two Game of Thrones actors (Neill Fleming & Barrington Cullen), Clodagh Downing, whose short film “Patsy Dick” was screened during Cannes Film Festival in 2013, as well as Hilary Cotter (The Tudors) as the Judge.

Check out the film’s crowdfunding campaign and help if you can! http://igg.me/at/testimony
